She is passionate about climbing and adventures in the woods, hobbies that allow her to find inspiration for her projects.
“I’ve always believed that a picture can convey more than a thousand words, and my goal is precisely communicate a message: a philosophy of hygge life, as the Danes call it.”

Hi Carlotta, welcome to the microphones of Brillo Magazine! Tell us about yourself and your style… Hi everyone, I’m Carlotta Zanettini, illustrator and creator from Trieste. I like to play around with digital tools and gouache, most of the time drawing natural subjects or women. My illustrations have a very autumnal palette and through them I try to convey those feelings of serenity and hygge, as the Danes say. I love adventures in the mountains, climbing in the green and autumn walks. I would love to illustrate a children’s books so that I can tell a story through my images and reach even the youngest readers.
Let’s start with a quick question: analog or digital? Like most artists, I started with analogue, but I am now almost exclusively using digital for my work. Although I continue to use the sketchbook to create drafts of works, to journal and to practice, a bit like my safe space that I always carry with me.
What are your most important sources of inspiration? My most important one is nature, in all its nuances. Since I was a child, I often walked in the woods and imagined stories of enchanted characters who inhabited those places, so I started to illustrate them.
You have been selected among the artists of Patagonia in collaboration with us at Brillo Magazine, and in this context we would like to ask you: how much does nature influence your style and your artistic representations? It influences a lot, I think mostly in an unconscious way. I also really like to leave messages through my illustrations, and I believe that nature needs a voice every now and then, especially in these times when we are slowly destroying our planet.

Color palettes: do you have predetermined ones or do you let your instincts seduce you? I have my favorite color palettes, in which you can find warm, autumnal colors and of course my favorite color: green. Let’s say that the colors I use are always the same, but I let my instincts seduce me when I have to mix them together.
Define yourself with 3 adjectives. I think I’m a very shy, sunny and definitely curious girl.
