Federica Carioli: a lost Soul among the pastel colours of her Romagna.

Federica Carioli was born in Lugo di Romagna in 1995. She did not attend any art academy, but nevertheless she began her career as an illustrator by designing covers and posters for some punk bands. She attended the Visual Design course in Verona, city where she currently works in a communication agency. In the past year she has been working hard to enter the world of freelance artists. Her greatest desire is to be able to take care in complete autonomy of all the projects that are commissioned to her, so that they can speak about her.
Federica’s cartoons talks about the everyday life, from the small things to the moments that most fascinate her. She tells about situations that happen during the everyday life through objects and, but above all, through female figures. Her language is simple but at the same time intuitive: in her cartoons she often tries to solve ordinary problems with a sophisticated irony and lightness.

She often starts her creative process digitally. At the moment she is using a graphics tablet, although she would love to switch to the iPad in order to ‘capture the moment’, especially when she is out in the city. Her relationship with colours has always been a bit complicated and she uses two colors at most. In her creations black is always present, even if lately she prefers to combine pastel palettes, tending towards pink. This influence is without any doubt due to the colours of her land (the colour of the sea and the Riviera). “My heart stands on the beach at 7pm in my Romagna. I love the colour of the sky which, at that time, turns lilac with some pink strokes”
She reveals us that the most important piece for her is an illustration she drew a few years ago and which she entitled ‘Bagno acquamarina 2017’.
For Federica, the sea has always been her ideal habitat, in a land full of memories where she will always return!
