Dada’s “scratched” drawings in a endless play of lights and shadows
Proudly from the south of Italy, meteoropethic and out of control.
Daniela Goffredo, aka Dada, lives now in Turin where she works as a freelance illustrator. She was born from a creative family, therefore she soon became passionate about art and about the world of drawing: “My dad used to draw Disney characters for me on the walls of the bedroom, I think that’s where it all started.”
She grew up in Bari, where she decided to go on with her passion attending Industrial Drawing at the Politecnical Institute of Turin. She starts here to define her style as self-learner: full colors, scratched traits (almost dirty), strokes and play of lights and shadows.
“Most of the times the compositions is clear in my mind, then I translate it on photoshop as a sketch. Many customers ask me to show some concepts in black and white, but unknowingly I am so involved with the project that most of the time I deliver the illustration already in color.”
Her palette is energetic and impetuous, for her the colors are essential and have an emotional power that influences the “soul” of her illustrations.
Dada believes that, as a basic skill, a relevant emotional sensitivity is mandatory: this capacity can only be obtained by training the eyes in a “visual gymnasium” of comparison with the others’ pieces of art. This allows the person to obtain, with time, a rich baggage useful to find the self form of expression.
In her case, the photographic cut has influenced the perspective of her compositions, thanks also to the inspiration taken from the scenes of old French films: this is how one of her collections,jokingly called “ILLOVIES”, was born.
