Madame Pillow: “My daily thoughts immortalized in a drawing”
“I interpret my illustrations in the making, suspended from “useless stories” to “humanized” objects.”
Messy, from Campania (a southern region in Italy) and straightforward. Laura Fusco, aka Madame Pillow, studied “Product Design” at the University of Aversa and then “Communication Design for Publishing” at ISIA in Urbino.
She doesn’t like to label herself in order to not confuse or influece her audience, therefore she defines her style as irreverent and not frivolous, she considers illustration as a sort of personal therapy. Laura frees her state of mind in a creative flow that leads her to digitally draw in an instinctive way (as she is).
She realizes scenes of daily life “not to let the moment fade away” as in an extraordinary “psychological realism”. It is definitely her personal and suggestive way to humanize objects and give them a second life.
The object then becomes the main part of her artistic expression (all in the making), as well as a vehicle through which she manages to express a feeling.
Her works are drawings with a simple and immediate stroke, often accompanied by sentences that explain the concept of the work. She points out words that make you think and reflect at the same time details of life that are left out by the majority of the people. She depicts a certain inclination to represent the states of mind that usually people do not like to express as anxiety, anxiety, loneliness and fear.
